OG Jarvis pledges to Sparty
Park Ridge (Ill.) four star ranked junior offensive guard recruit Kevin Jarvis (6-foot-5, 315 pounds) gave Michigan State his verbal commitment today after talking it over with his family and his high school head coach Dave Inserra. Jarvis talks about his college choice here.
"I had a great visit to Michigan State on Tuesday and ever since I came back home I couldn't stop thinking about them," Jarvis said. "I sat down and talked it over with my Dad and then Coach Inserra that I was ready to commit. They totally agreed with my reasons to commit so afterwards I called up the MSU coaches and gave them my verbal commitment."
Jarvis explained why he decided to end his recruiting process today and pledge to the Michigan State Spartans..
"I've been wanting to be a Spartan for a very long time. I wanted to wait a bit after they offered me because I was getting a lot of offers from some great schools. Once I visited on Tuesday I knew that I wouldn't find another school like Michigan State. They offer so many positives and offer everything I was looking for in a school. Michigan State has just a great family feel and everyone cares about each other on and off the field. The coaches are great and it's just a great fit for me so I committed."
Jarvis is also excited about continuing a Chicagoland pipeline to Michigan State.
"I still talk to some of the Chicagoland guys who committed in the last class and they have nothing but positives to say about the coaches and the school at Michigan State. It's pretty cool to have so many Chicagoland and Illinois guys on the roster. It gives you more of a comfort feeling. I'm definitely going to try to help them bring in the next class from Illinois in anyway I can."
Anyone who has gotten to know Jarvis already knows he's thrilled to have his recruiting process completed.
"(Laughing) It's something that I can definitely do without at times. I'm just not the press conference type of kid. I just prefer to try to avoid as much attention as I can. It's flattering to talk to so many people but I'm very happy I can put recruiting behind me now. I won't visit anyone else and can't visit anyone else because I'm solid to Michigan State ."
